Goals
After the experimental results obtained at the SPS and RHIC, hard and electromagnetic probes became main players in the study of the QCD matter created in high-energy nuclear collisions. Our current understanding on both the properties of the created dense matter and the initial conditions in an ultra-relativistic heavy ion collision, are determined to a large extent by such probes. With the advent of the LHC and the large yield of hard probes that it will provide, this subject will certainly become even more important. The "Hard Probes" conference series is now a well established forum to discuss the corresponding topics:
• Jets and high transverse momentum hadrons
• Heavy flavor hadrons and quarkonia
• Photons and dileptons
• Initial state phenomena
Participation
The conference will consist of both plenary and contributed presentations, as well as a poster session, with an excursion for half a day to Santiago de Compostela on Wednesday June 11th 2008 afternoon. There will be a brief student program. In order to facilitate extensive and in-depth discussions during the conference, we will limit the number of participants to 150.
Venue
Proceedings
The conference proceedings will be published by The European Physical Journal C.
